Have you considered taking a long hard look at what it means for software centers to transmit _information_ and consider what the outputs of the man-architecture centers that C.A described are ? Perhaps if you broaden the notion of 'information' you'll find a way to reconcile your second possibility, that they are in fact the same.
You might be on to something there. I guess I could replace "information" with "value" or something, but in order to fit the facts the resulting hypothesis would have to be so vague as to be unfalsifiable. Did you have a specific definition of "information" in mind?
